Cut And Paste

The crash was creeping like a shadow so terrific
I was a round peg inside a square hole
I jumped the blinds on the Texas and Pacific
Wheels to the rails and I started to roll
Roil and churn, slash and burn
Fold and adjourn
I don’t know where I’m going but I’ll never return

Cut and Paste
Downsized and uprooted
Dissected, chucked, and scattered
Condensed and displaced
When the last toll bells
And the last hammer fells
You’ll be beating up the chops
And I’ll be singing farewells

The boxcar tramps were all singing for their suppers
With a hobo banjo and two broken guitars
I was tired of just skating on the uppers
So I kicked that combination for a bedroom of stars
Roil and churn, slash and burn
Fold and adjourn
I don’t know where I’m going but I’ll never return

Cut and Paste…..

Traveling by thumb put a strain on my relievers
So I hit the main stem trying to make a hard sell
I ran a soft-soap con on some believers
And ended up in the Crowbar Hotel
Roil and churn, slash and burn
Fold and adjourn
I don’t know where I’m going but I’ll never return

Cut and Paste…..

I hopped a bobtail on the New York Central
And bit The Apple for my piece of the pie
The Mondrian city vertical and horizontal
The Broadway boogie-woogie and twelve-bar testify
Syncopation
Copping licks
Revelation
I was solid murder just getting my kicks

Cut and Paste…..
